Women's day: A Celebration of Perseverance and the Power of Dreams

ree

In celebration of International Women's Day, Cecilia Gavilanez, our inspiring founder, shares her journey in creating a brand that champions natural skincare solutions. I am always intrigued by how women find a way to turn their dreams into reality, often overcoming countless challenges along the way. So, I took this opportunity to have an in-depth conversation with Cecilia about her path, the lessons she’s learned, and the passion that drives her.

So, here we go into our:

1. What inspired you to start SC Beauty by Nature?

SC Beauty by Nature was born from my passion for natural products and my desire to promote well-being and health through skincare. I have always believed in the power of organic ingredients to nourish and care for our skin safely and effectively. I wanted to create a brand that not only offers high-quality natural products but also inspires people to adopt a more mindful lifestyle in harmony with nature.

  1. How does your cultural background influence your approach to skincare? My cultural background has deeply influenced my approach to skincare, as I grew up valuing natural remedies and traditional wellness practices. I have always believed in the power of nature’s ingredients to care for and heal the skin holistically. That connection to what is natural and authentic inspires me to create products that respect the body’s balance, using organic formulas that reflect this inherited knowledge and a healthier, more conscious lifestyle.

  2. What have been the biggest challenges in creating a natural skincare brand?

Creating SC Beauty by Nature has been an exciting journey, but not without its challenges. One of the biggest hurdles has been ensuring that each product combines effectiveness with 100% natural and organic ingredients while maintaining high-quality standards. Additionally, educating consumers about the real benefits of natural products compared to conventional options has required time and dedication. Another challenge has been finding reliable suppliers who share our values of sustainability and purity, ensuring that every ingredient is ethical and environmentally friendly. Despite these challenges, each obstacle has strengthened my commitment to offering products that care for the skin in a healthy and responsible way.

  3. As a Latin American immigrant in the UK, what struggles have you faced in building your business?

As a Latin American immigrant in the United Kingdom, one of the biggest challenges has been adapting to a new market with different regulations and standards for skincare products. Understanding and complying with local regulations for natural products has required time, research, and a great deal of effort. Additionally, building a network in a country where I had no roots was a challenge, as community support is essential for any entrepreneur. Another hurdle has been overcoming cultural and language barriers when communicating the essence of SC Beauty by Nature, conveying the importance of natural ingredients and the holistic approach that is part of my heritage.

Despite these difficulties, my identity as an immigrant has given me a unique perspective, a strong work ethic, and the desire to share the richness of natural remedies that are part of my culture. Each obstacle has motivated me to keep moving forward and to create a brand that not only cares for the skin but also celebrates diversity and authenticity.

  4. Can you share a defining moment in your entrepreneurial journey?

The key moment that defined the beginning of SC Beauty by Nature was when I realized the lack of truly natural, effective skincare products free from harsh chemicals. I have always trusted homemade remedies and organic ingredients, but after moving to the UK, I found it difficult to find options that reflected those values.

That frustration turned into inspiration: I decided to create a brand that combined the ancestral knowledge of natural ingredients with safe and sustainable formulas.

  5. What advice would you give to women aspiring to start their own business in the beauty industry?

My advice for women who dream of starting a business in the beauty industry is to believe in their vision and not be afraid to take the first step, even if the journey seems challenging. It’s essential to have clarity about what makes you unique and highlight those values in every stage of your project.

Keep learning constantly and surround yourself with a support network—other entrepreneurs, mentors, or people who inspire you.

Trust your voice and the power of your story. Authenticity resonates with people, and when you create from the heart, your brand becomes more than just a business—it becomes a reflection of who you are and what you want to bring to the world.

  6. What is your secret to facing difficult moments while pursuing your dream project? I have learned to be patient and trust the process. Challenges are inevitable, but each difficulty brings a valuable lesson that helps me grow as an entrepreneur and as a person.

Surrounding myself with people who believe in my vision—whether family, friends, or others in the industry—is essential to staying motivated and not losing faith in my project.

I also practice self-care. Just as I believe in caring for the skin, I believe in taking care of the mind and spirit. I place all my projects in God’s hands. Taking a moment to breathe, reflect, and recharge through prayer helps me move forward with determination and love for what I do.
